BEFORE COLBY
Sam graduated from Swampscott High School, where she played soccer, basketball, and softball. She has worked as a research assistant in the Biobehavioral Pediatric Pain Lab at Boston Children's Hospital, and as a personal care assistant for Northeast Arc.
AT COLBY
Sam is majoring in Psychology with a Neuroscience concentration on the pre-med track. She is a Biology tutor, a research assistant in Colby's Personality Lab, and a mentor for Colby Cares About Kids. Sam also started her own weekly after-school athletic program for female students at a Waterville elementary school.
2018 season highlights: Rizzo was on the NESCAC Fall-Academic Team.
2017 soccer season highlights: Rizzo did not see playing time for the Mules due to injury. She was on the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.
2016 soccer season highlights: Rizzo made 14 starts, finishing the season with six wins and four shutouts. She had a .838 save percentage. Rizzo was named to the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team and the CoSIDA All-District 1 Academic Team.
2016 softball season highlights: Sam played in 13 games for the Mules in her first season, finishing the year with eight hits, two doubles, three RBI, and two walks on 27 at-bats. She had a .296 batting average, .367 on-base percentage, and a .370 slugging percentage.
2015 soccer season highlights: Rizzo started in goal 10 times for the Mules in her first season, and finished the year with more than 1,000 minutes played and 94 saves.
