Kristin Shaw is entering into her fourth season at the helm of the Colby College women’s soccer team in 2019-20. She was named the head women's soccer coach in April of 2016 after two seasons as an assistant coach at Villanova University.
Since arriving on “the Hill”, Shaw has moved the women’s soccer program in a positive direction. Returning to the NESCAC playoffs in 2018, the first since 2014. She has in every season reduced the number of goals against, increased shots/ shots on goal per game, while mentoring 30 NESCAC All-Academic Award winners and earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics Platinum Award (2016-2018).
Prior to arriving at Colby, Shaw served as the assistant coach at Villanova University During the 2014 and 2015 season, Shaw worked with both the backline and goalkeepers. She helped the Wildcats earn a 2014 Big East Tournament bid and mentored 2nd –team All Big East Conference defender, Emily Damstrom.
Shaw also severed as the head soccer coach at Smith College from 2011 – 2014 and as the associate head coach at the University at Albany 2008-2011.
In 3 seasons at Smith College, Shaw helped mentor 15 Academic All-Conference recipients (most in a 3-year period, while 2013 placed, Jordan Houston, on the All Conference 1st Team (1st recipient since 2006) and in 2012 placed Aidan Hitt, on the All Conference 2nd Team (1st recipient since 2009).
At Albany, Shaw helped guide the Great Danes to 5 consecutive record-breaking seasons. Shaw’s last season at Albany saw the biggest program accomplishments by helping the squad: to its first winning season in program’s Division I era. Setting a school record for wins in a season in the Division I era for the second straight year with 10 wins (8 wins in 2009). Making its first-ever America East semifinal appearance. Setting a Division I program record for shutouts (9) for the second straight season.
In addition to her collegiate coaching, Shaw also is a senior staff member with the Region 1 (East Region) Olympic Development program. She has served as the U13 head coach from 2014-2016, and assistant coach from 2012-2014. She is currently the U12 head coach.
A former WPSL and University of Washington player, Shaw currently holds a USSF “C” License and United Coaches Premier Diploma.
