With the 2021-22 Academic Year, Beth Lebel steps into the role of Interim Head Coach of Women's Soccer. She joined the Colby women’s soccer staff in June of 2020 as Assistant Coach.
Lebel came to Mayflower Hill from the University of Maine Farmington where she was the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach and the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach. "Coach Lebel is an outstanding professional, a demonstrated winner, and a person with great integrity who does the right things on and off the field every day," said previous head coach Kristin Shaw.
"I joined the coaching staff last year because I believed in Coach Kristin Shaw and the forward progress she was making with this program," said Lebel. "That still holds true, and I'm excited for the opportunity to continue that work. Over the past year, this bold group of women showed they are committed to bettering one another and themselves every day, and that's a wonderful environment to be a part of. I look forward to forging into the competitive season and seeing what we become."
At UMF, Lebel served as the assistant and goalkeeper coach and was involved in all aspects of the program. She helped the Beavers to back-to-back appearances in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship in 2018 and 2019, winning in 2018 with a trip to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2003. In all six of her seasons, the Beavers qualified for the NAC Tournament.
In her first season at the helm for the women’s lacrosse team, Lebel guided the team to its best season as a program with 10 wins and a first-ever playoff win. In 2019 the Beavers finished second in the conference and earned a spot in the NAC championship for the first time in program history. Lebel has mentored 15 All-Conference selections, including a 2019 NAC Senior Scholar Athlete, and was recognized by conference peers as Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2019.
The Lewiston, Maine native was a two-sport athlete on the soccer and lacrosse fields for the University of Maine Farmington and captained both in her senior year. A three-year starter for the women’s soccer squad, Lebel played in 56 games and finished her career ranked fifth among UMF career leaders in both saves and saves per game. Her 20 career wins are tied for second-most all-time among Farmington keepers. In 2013 she was one of the first two UMF women’s soccer players to participate in the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl Game.
Lebel has worked as a camp assistant at UMF, Bowdoin, Bates, and Colby and holds her United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “D” License. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in coaching from the University of Maine Farmington in 2014.
