BEFORE COLBY
McGara graduated from Glen Rock High School, where she played basketball and lacrosse. She captained both sports and was a two-time Academic All-American, first team all-county, and first team All-North Jersey selection. McGara was also a member of the National Honor Society.
AT COLBY
McGara is majoring in Environmental Policy and has a minor in Managerial Economics. She works as a tour guide for the admissions office and a research assistant for the sustainability director. McGara is a member of SAAC and the Student Government Association. She also volunteers at Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter. She completed an Urban Studies summer program at University of Chicago in 2016, the summer business program at Columbia Business School in 2017, and interned at Genscrape in the summer of 2018.
2018 season highlights: DeWan played in 11 games for the Mules, making two starts. She finished the season fourth on the team in draw controls with 23. She also had four goals, seven ground balls, four caused turnovers, and an assist.
2017 season highlights: McGara, at 5-foot-10, was key on draw controls and finished tied for third on the team with 25 draws. She also had three goals, one assist, six ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
2016 season highlights: DeWan played in nine games for the Mules and made two starts. She finished the season with eight goals, two assists, eight draw controls, and five caused turnovers.
