Biography
Why I chose Colby: "The people. I feel like everyone here spends their time doing things that they love and is eager to tell stories about it and get others involved. No one is afraid of going out on a limb or pushing themselves in new ways, and when they do so, they strive to find ways to connect others to the opportunity."
Summer Internship/Work Experience: Sophia performed executive recruiting for Daversa Partners this past summer.
Major: Anthropology; minor in Economics
Plans after Colby: "The world is my oyster!"
2019 season highlights: Gorman placed 2nd at the Bowdoin invitational and 5th at the Connecticut College invitational. She then defended her NESCAC championship and placed 3rd at the New England Regionals, qualifying for the National meet where she repeated as an All-American finishing 9th.
2018 season highlights: Gorman was one of two individuals named a NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer following the 2018 NESCAC Cross Country Championships, where she was the first Colby woman to win the meet. She went on to finish 3rd at the regional meet and 11th at the National meet, earning All-American honors.
2017 season highlights: Sophia had a solid first season, placing 30th at the NESCAC championship meet and 47th at the New England Division III meet. She also was 38th at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle.
