Biography

BEFORE COLBY

Mahal graduated from The Middlesex School, where she ran cross country and track.

AT COLBY 

Mahal is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Human Development.

2017 season highlights: Mahal finished in sixth place and second among Colby runners in the first-year/junior race against Bates. 

2016 season highlights: Alvarez-Backus finished seventh at the Bates sophomore/senior race, 79th at the Maine State Championships, and 78th at the NESCAC Championships. She also placed 110th in the New England Division III Championships. Mahal waas on the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.

 

2015 season highlights: Alvarez-Backus opened the season by finishing 11th at the Bates first-year/sophomore Race, 14th at the Bowdoin Invitational, 39th at the Maine State Championships, 98th at the NESCAC Championships, and 67th in the ECAC Championships.
