Terren Allen

Terren Allen, a two-time North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship winner who led Husson University to three regular-season titles in four years, will be in her eighth year as head coach of the Colby College softball program in the 2025-26 academic year.

In 2022, Allen led Colby to the NESCAC playoffs after a 19-15 regular season while coaching three First Team All-Conference players in Amanda Cabral, Abby Orso, and Chloe Wilcox.

At Husson, Allen was the NAC Coach of the Year two years straight and helped the Eagles earn two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances in the 2017 & 2018 seasons.

Allen, who had a 92-66 record at Husson, led the Eagles to NCAA tourney appearances and NAC championships in 2015 and 2018 and to NAC regular season titles in 2015, 2017, and 2018. Allen’s teams won 20 games or more in three of her four seasons, including two seasons with 25 victories or more.

One of the positives for Allen will be Colby’s recently completed baseball/softball complex. Colby was the first college in the New England Small College Athletic Conference to have artificial turf, which allows the team to get out on the field at the start of the season rather than waiting for snow to melt.

From 2012 to 2015 Allen was the general manager and director of softball at Maine Sluggers in Brewer, Maine, and coached their Under-18 travel team. Allen also served as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater, the University of Maine, in 2011 and 2013-14, where she worked with the outfielders and hitters.

Allen was a four-year letter winner as an infielder for the University of Maine from 2008 to 2011. She batted .323 in 204 career games with 207 hits, 35 homers, 43 doubles, one triple, 167 RBI, 70 walks, 21 stolen bases, 357 total bases, and a .558 slugging percentage.

A three-time America East All-Conference selection, Allen holds the Black Bears’ single-season records for most home runs by a first-year (9), most RBIs (53), and she is UMaine’s all-time career leader in home runs, doubles, and games played. Allen was named to the America East All-Academic Team all four seasons.

Allen earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and physical education with a minor in business administration from UMaine in 2011. A native of Bucksport, Maine, Allen attended Bucksport High School and was named Class B Softball Player and Pitcher of the Year in 2006 and 2007.

Allen and her husband, Jeremy, have a son, Ethan and daughter Eliza.
