Dorothy O'Donnell

Dorothy O'Donnell, the 2010 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Year, joined the Colby Softball coaching staff as an assistant coach to start the 2018-19 season. 

In 2022, O'Donnell helped lead Colby to the NESCAC playoffs after a 19-15 regular season while coaching three First Team All-Conference players in Amanda Cabral, Abby Orso, and Chloe Wilcox.

Before joining the Colby Softball coaching staff, O'Donnell gained experience as an assistant coach at Husson in 2012-13 and former JV then varsity softball coach in 2017 & 2018 at Ellsworth High School.

O'Donnell also was the head coach for the under-14 team at the Sluggers Baseball & Softball Facility in Brewer, Maine. 
 

O'Donnell was inducted into the Husson University's Sports Hall of Fame Dec. 7, 2018. She helped the Eagles to four straight NAC regular season titles and three consecutive NAC championships and berths into the NCAA Division III Tournament. She entered the Hall of Fame as the program's all-time career leader in at-bats (550) and hits (195), and ranks second in games played and total bases, third in runs and RBIs, fourth in triples, tied for fourth in homeruns, fifth in stolen base attempts and extra-base hits, sixth in stolen bases, and tied for sixth in doubles.

O'Donnell also holds the program's longest hitting streak of 18 games and the longest reach base streak of 31 games.

A two-time All-NAC outfielder, O'Donnell hit .355 (195 hits) with 128 runs, 32 doubles, 14 triples, 11 home runs, 107 RBI, and 54 stolen bases in 167 career games.
