Gavin Kelley joined Colby Men's Crew in the fall of 2021 as the Assistant Men's Crew Coach.
Kelleyas is a native of Holliston, Mass. and comes to Colby after spending two years at Catholic University where he worked with both the men's and women's Division III varsity programs in their first years two in existence (2018-2020). From 2013 - 2016 Kelley worked as an Assistant Coach for Boston College Men's Crew. While there, the Eagles earned back to back Men's Team Point Trophies (2014-2015) at the New England Rowing Championships, as well as medals at the NICR / ECAC regatta. BC also managed to secure multiple top 10 performances at the Head of the Charles Regatta in the College 8 and 4.
While coaching Boston College in the mornings, Kelley would also coach junior programs in the afternoons. He was the Head Varsity Girls coach at the Wayland-Weston Rowing Association (2014-2015) as well as at Hingham High School (2016). Kelley continued to gain coaching experience in the summer months at Community Rowing, Inc. where he worked as a volunteer assistant for the high-performance sculling group as well as the Lightweight 8 camp in 2015. That crew, which was selected and trained over three months, earned a bronze medal, and was the only men's sweep boat from the USA to medal at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in France.
Kelley is still an active rower and is a member of Riverside Boat Club.
