Justin Fereshetian joined the Colby Nordic coaching staff to begin the 2023-24 academic year. He comes to the Colby Nordic program with nine years of experience as a ski coach and wax technician.
As a result of having 25 years of skiing experience, Fereshetian has developed a deep understanding of the sport and its intricacies. He prioritizes building positive relationships with athletes and staff, believing that a supportive environment is crucial for athletes' success.
Fereshetian has coached athletes and prepared race skis at major national and international level competitions and thoroughly enjoys all aspects of working with athletes and ski service. In 2020, he was recognized as Coach of the Year by the New England Nordic Ski Association, for his work with the Waterville-based Quarry Road Ski Club, as he coached their first athletes to qualify for the Junior National Championships. Two years later in 2022, he coached the club's first podium finisher at the Junior National Championships.
Fereshetian competed collegiately on the Eastern Interscholastic Ski Association for the University of Maine at Presque Isle and still enjoys throwing on a race bib occasionally. When he's not skiing Fereshetian enjoys baking bagels & donuts, disc golfing, whitewater paddling, and mountain biking.
"I'm really excited to return to the Waterville area and work with Tracey and the athletes on the Nordic team. I know that Tracey and I work well together, and I'm excited to see how we can help our student-athletes achieve their goals."
