Colby Athletics is pleased to announce the hire of Eric Sturgis as the Associate Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach with the start of the spring season of 2022. With extensive coaching experience at all levels of tennis, Sturgis comes to Mayflower Hill from Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he was the head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at Iowa Central CC.
"We are really excited to be adding a coach like Eric Sturgis to our program," said Colby Head Coach Adam Reeb. "Coach Sturgis possesses extensive experience as a college coach, including many years as a head coach, which will be invaluable to our student-athletes. He has a terrific work ethic and is very passionate and knowledgeable. Coach Sturgis is focused on developing his student-athletes on and off the court, and I am really looking forward to working with him as we continue to strive towards the top of the NESCAC and National standings."
Over the course of his coaching career, Sturgis has served as head coach at Western New Mexico University, Lindenwood University, Lake Superior State University, and Mount Saint Mary College.
"I am extremely excited and honored to have been selected as the Associate Head Tennis Coach at Colby College," Sturgis reflected. "I want to thank Coach Reeb and the search committee as well. To work at such a prestigious institution, with an extremely successful head coach like Adam Reeb, is something I have always wanted. I look forward to helping Colby Tennis continue to ascent into the top tier of the NESCAC year in and year out."
