BEFORE COLBY
Merrill graduated from the University School of Milwaukee, where she was a member of the field hockey, soccer, and alpine ski teams. She was a two-year captain in all three sports and her school's Female Athlete of the Year. In field hockey, she was a two-time All-Conference selection and captain of her club team. Merrill also won the MVP and sportsmanship awards for skiing. She was an honor roll student for all four years and a Global Scholar.
AT COLBY
Merrill is majoring in Geology with a minor in Creative Writing. She is class president, layout and opinions editor for the Echo, a teaching assistant in the Geology department, an SAAC representative, and an admissions intern. Merrill also is a member of the club ski team, Mediocre A Cappella, and a mentor for Playground Pals. She also works for the Athletics department, managing statistics for both ice hockey teams and working as the Director of Communications for Men's Ice Hockey. Over the summer, she worked as a communications intern at Bat Conservation International.
2018 season highlights: Read played in 12 games for the Mules in her final season, making four starts. She finished fourth on the team in scoring with four goals and an assist.
2017 season higlights: Read started all 15 games for the Mules this season.
2016 season highlights: Merrill played in every game for the Mules, finishing the season with seven goals and one assist on 34 shots.
2015 season highlights: Read played in six games in her first season with the team.
