BEFORE COLBY
Benard graduated from Moi High School Kabarak, where he played volleyball. He has received two Davis Projects for Peace and Spark microgrants.
AT COLBY
Benard is majoring in Economics with a Financial Markets concentration.
2017 cross country season highlights: Benard was Colby’s top runner during the season, placing 33rd at the NESCAC championship meet and 63rd at the NCAA New England Region event. He was sixth at Keene State’s meet, 33rd at the Rowan event, and third in the junior/senior race against Bates. Benard won Colby’s Norman White Award for inspirational leadership and sportsmanship at the senior athletic awards ceremony.
2016 cross country season highlights: Kibet won the Bates junior/senior race and finished 29th at the Williams Purple Valley Invitational, third at Maine State Championships, and 30th at NESCAC Championships. He also placed 96th in the New England Division III Championships.
2016 outdoor season highlights: Kibet started the outdoor season at the PLNU Invitational with a 16th-place finish in the 5,000 meters. At the Bowdoin Invitational, Benard finished the 5,000 meters with a personal best of 15:23.75 and a first-place finish. Kibet followed his win with a third-place finish in the 10,000 meters at the Colby Open. Benard finished his sophomore season at the NESCAC Championships, with a 12th-place finish in the 10,000 meters and a personal best of 32:13.74.
2016 indoor track season highlights: Kibet competed in the 3,000 meters in the winter season, finishing sixth at the Bates tri-meet and seventh at the Maine State Championships.
2015 cross country season highlights: Kibet opened his sophomore season by taking fourth at the Bates first-year/sophomore race, second at the Bowdoin Invitational, 15th at the Maine State Championships, and 57th at the NESCAC Championships. Kibet placed 39th at the New England Division III Championships. He was on the NESCAC Fall All-Sportsmanship Team.
2015 outdoor track season highlights: Kibet competed in one event for the Mules in the outdoor season, taking 41st in the 1,500 meters at the Point Loma Invitational.
2015 indoor track season highlights: Kibet competed in two events for the Mules, taking seventh in the mile at the USM Invitational and ninth in the same event at the Maine State Championships.
2014 cross country season highlights: Kibet opened the season by finishing fourth in the first-year/sophomore race at Bates. Benard then finished 11th at the Middlebury Invitational and 34th at the Williams Invitational.
