Tad Skelley enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Colby baseball program in the 2021-22 academic year. He has previously worked with the Toronto Blue Jays, Northwestern University, and the University of Notre Dame.
Skelley was an amateur scout and Southeast video coordinator for the Blue Jays. He assisted the Director of Scouting and Toronto's front office with preparation for the Major League Baseball Draft and wrote scouting reports on amateur, professional, and international players.
Prior to his time with the Blue Jays, Skelley was an assistant coach and camp coordinator for Northwestern University for three years. He oversaw and implemented all aspects of infield and outfield defense. Skelley has always had an eye for talent; he recruited and developed current pro-baseball player Alex Erro, who was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2019. Coach Skelley was also implemental in the development of Jack Dunn, who was drafted by the Washington Nationals. He also earned a Wildcat Initiative for Leadership Development certificate from Northwestern’s prestigious Kellogg School of Management.
In the summer of 2017, Skelley was the head coach for the Brockton Rox, overseeing all aspects of managing a competitive summer collegiate baseball organization. Skelley was responsible for selecting and signing all players to the active roster, and was named Future’s League Manager of the Year.
Before his time at Northwestern, Skelley was the Director of Baseball Operations at Notre Dame from July 2013 to August 2015. He coordinated all team travel, assisted with on-campus recruiting, and oversaw and directed all team video operations.
Skelley graduated from Wheaton College in 2011, where he served as a team captain his senior year. He helped Wheaton to a 130-44 record in his four years; the team won three conference and tournament championships, and Skelley was named to the All Tournament New England Regional team his junior year.
Jesse Woods, head coach for the Colby baseball program, worked with Skelley at Notre Dame. Both Woods and Skelley are Wheaton College graduates.

Skelley and his wife, Josie, reside in Waterville with their daughter, Madden (4).
