Recreational Venues

WOODSMAN

(Woodsman Arena) The coed Colby woodsmen’s team competes against northeastern and Canadian colleges and universities in traditional lumberjack events. The team has a small cabin and areas for various events west of Johnson Pond and Washington Street.

Trails

(Campbell Trails) Developed in 1980, the 8.5-mile Campbell Trails are used for both competition and recreational cross-country running and skiing. The trails begin at the Hill Family Guest House, near the tennis courts.

(Rugby Field) The Colby men’s and women’s rugby football clubs compete on the rugby field, affectionately known by students as “The Swamp.” The teams play in New England intercollegiate leagues as clubs, not varsity teams.

Johnson pond

(Johnson Pond) Small pond on Colby College campus with a few benches scattered around the perimeter. Great place to just sit and relax and watch the birds and squirrels carry on their daily business. The willow trees that surround the pond give great shade away from the sun. During the winter, the frozen pond is cleared for winter activities.
