Biography

BEFORE COLBY

John graduated from Roxbury Latin, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was an honor roll student. John interned at Wayne Griffin Electric.

AT COLBY 

John is majoring in Economics and Math with a minor in Physics. He also plays baseball at Colby.

2017 football season highlights: Baron kicked in all 9 games for the Mules in his senior season, finishing the year with 66 punts, 15 extra points, and three field goals, and a long of 40. He punted for the most yards in the NESCAC (2513). He also had the third longest punt in the NESCAC at 66-yard boot, as well as third fewest touchbacks with three. He was named NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week in the sixth week of the season.

2016 football season highlights: John earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors after a terrific junior season. He appeared in all eight games for the Mules, finishing the season with 13 field goals and eight extra points to lead the team in scoring. Baron set a new NESCAC record for single-season field goals and easily broke Colby's old record of nine. John also tied the school record for field goals in a game at four (vs. Tufts, vs. Bowdoin) and broke the most consecutive field goal mark with nine straight over the final three games of the season. He was twice named the NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week. John also had a 34.7-yard punting average, 11 kicks inside the 20-yard line, and 16 punts caught for fair catches. 

2016 baseball season highlights: Baron played in 16 games for the Mules in his sophomore season, finishing the year with six hits, four runs, five RBI,, and one walk. On the mound, Baron made four appearances and pitched two innings.

2015 football season highlights: Baron kicked for the Mules in his sophomore season, finishing the year with 52 punts and four field goals, with a long of 37 yards. John had the longest punt in the NESCAC in 2015 with a 79-yard boot. He also had no punts blocked, was fourth in fewest touchbacks (3), fourth in total yards (1,930), fourth in fair catches (13), and sixth in punting average (37.1). John was on the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.

2015 baseball season highlights: Baron finished the season with a batting average of .300 and finished seventh on the team in slugging percentage (.400). John posted a perfect fielding percentage in the 2015 season while seeing time in the outfield.

2014 football season highlights: Baron saw limited time as the back-up kicker and punter for the Mules in 2014. John finished the season with five kickoffs, two punts, and was 2-for-3 on extra-point attempts.
