Sam graduated from Saint John's Preparatory School where he played football.

Sam is majoring in American Studies with a minor in African American studies. He is a captain for the Mules.

2017 season highlights: Gomez played in six games for the Mules, recording 10 tackles.

2016 season highlights: Sam played in all eight games for the Mules, recording 23 tackles, a sack, 1.5 tackles for loss, a pass break-up, and a fumble recovery.
