Waterville, Maine - Under the Friday night lights at Bill Alfond Field, the Colby Men's Soccer team officially kicked off the 2026 athletic calendar by battling seventh-ranked Wheaton College (Mass.) to a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
Both defenses set the tone early in a tightly contested, physical season opener. The Mules tested the Lyons goalkeeper throughout the match, putting four dangerous shots on goal, but he turned away each chance to keep the scoreboard clean. Colby's backline and defensive unit stood tall on their end, limiting clear-cut scoring opportunities for the Lyons and ensuring a clean sheet in front of a energetic home crowd on Mayflower Hill.
Jackson Magee finished with four saves in net for the Mules.Â
With the draw, both Colby and Wheaton move to 0-0-1 to begin the 2026 campaign.
The Mules return to action on Tuesday, September 8th, when they make the short trip across town to face local rival Thomas College at 7:30pm.Â
