HARTFORD, Conn. – The No. 15 ranked Colby College softball team split a NESCAC doubleheader with Trinity College of Connecticut on Sunday afternoon at Trinity Softball Field, earning a 6-4 victory in game one before falling 4-3 in the nightcap.
GAME 1: No. 15 Colby 6, Trinity (Conn.) 4
Trinity College (18-12, 9-7 NESCAC) built a 3-0 advantage in the opening frame off an RBI double down the left field line, an RBI single to center field and a bases loaded walk.
The Bantams tacked on another run in the bottom of the second on an error to extend the gap to 4-0.
After being held off the board for the first five innings, Colby (23-8, 9-5 NESCAC) began to rally with a three-run inning behind an RBI single up the middle from junior
Caroline DeSimone, followed by a two-run knock to center field from senior
Victoria Ramirez.
Down 4-3 with two outs in the seventh, the Mules pulled off the comeback on an RBI single up the middle from junior
Juliana Kiley and a two-run single up the middle by Ramirez to pull ahead 6-4.
Sophomore
Sophia Meade picked up the win for the Mules in the circle after allowing one hit and no runs with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of relief work.

Ella Wilcox each had two hits apiece while Ramirez drove in four in the game one victory.
GAME 2: Trinity (Conn.) 4, No. 15 Colby 3
After three scoreless innings to open the nightcap, Colby grabbed a 3-0 lead in the fourth.
Sophomore
Avery Lyman led off the inning with single up the middle and advanced to second on a groundout by DeSimone before senior
Kelsey Sullivan walked. With runners on first and second, sophomore Juila Berry ripped a hard-hit ground ball to third base which resulted in a throwing error that allowed Lyman to score and Berry and Sullivan to advanced to third and second base, respectively. With runners in scoring position, Cassidy laced a two-out single up the middle, scoring Berry and Sullivan.
The Bantams chipped away at the deficit in the home half of the fifth when they scored a single run on a two-out RBI single up the middle to trim the gap to 3-1.
In the bottom of the seventh, Trinity mounted their comeback, scoring three runs on two RBI singles to center field and a sacrifice fly to give them the 4-3 victory.

Sharlotte Stazinski was hit with the loss after allowing four runs (three earned) off nine hits with seven punch-outs in 6.2 innings.
Cassidy, Kiley, Lyman, DeSimone and Berry each recorded a hit in the setback.
The Mules return to action on Wednesday when they travel down I-95 to Lewiston for a NESCAC doubleheader with Bates College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
