Following Winter, Colby 25th in Learfield Directors' Cup Standings

Cleveland, Ohio - After finishing the fall season in 36th place, the Mules has moved up to the 25th spot following success from Colby's winter teams in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings for Division III. NCAA Championship performances from Alpine and Nordic Skiing, Women's Swimming & Diving, as well as the Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field team, have totaled 194.50 points towards the standings adding on to Colby's 166 points from the fall.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today to measure an institution's success at the national level, with points awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. There are 429 colleges and universities registered with the NCAA at the Division III level.

Alpine and Nordic Skiing combined for an 11th place finish at the NCAA Skiing Championships for the second straight season, earning 57 points. Women's Swimming & Diving had an historic season highlighted by a 15th place finish at the NCAA Championships, good for 60 points. Lastly, the Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field team, underlined by four All-American awards (two individuals, two relays) placed 33rd and 31st respectively to earned a total of 77.5 points for the Mules.

Colby is the sixth NESCAC institution in the top-25, following Williams (2), Tufts (5), Amherst (8), Middlebury (15), and Wesleyan (23). Ten of the 11 NESCAC schools rank inside the top-70, and NYU from the Univeristy Atheltic Assocation Conference sits at the top.
