Waterville, Maine — The Colby Men's Tennis team faced another daunting NESCAC test Saturday, falling 6-1 to No. 3 ranked Tufts University at the Alfond-Wales Courts. Despite the overall result, the Mules continued to show they can compete with the conference's elite, highlighted by a dominant straight-set victory at the bottom of the singles lineup.
The Jumbos took control early in doubles play, sweeping all three flights to secure the opening point. Colby's No. 2 pairing of
Antonio Lee and
Sean Wang turned in a gritty performance, staying within striking distance before eventually falling 6-4 to their opponents.
As the match shifted to singles, the high-powered Tufts lineup proved difficult to contain across the top flights. However,
Marco Ziets-Segura provided the highlight of the day for the Mules at the No. 6 position. Ziets-Segura played a clinical match from start to finish, dispatching Davide Mirza 6-4, 6-3 to put Colby on the board.
Colby (5-8) will look to bounce back against Trinity tomorrow at noon.
