Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Lacrosse team faced Williams College in a Saturday afternoon NESCAC matchup. After a hard-fought 60-minute battle, the Mules fell to the Ephs 11-9.
The Mules set the tone right away when, just 38 seconds into the game,
Corinne Kapalka put Colby up 1-0. Williams responded, but the Mules maintained a 5-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw two more goals from Colby and one from the Ephs. The Mules entered halftime with 15 total shots and a three-goal lead. The third quarter featured strong offensive and defensive play from Colby, as they recorded six shots, two goals, and three draw controls. Despite no goals in the final quarter, the Mules continued to apply pressure, adding six more shots and collecting six ground balls. Colby finished the game with 27 total shots, 19 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers. Goaltender
Gigi Peloso made eight saves in net.
Julia Maimonis led the team with three goals, five shots on goal, and three caused turnovers.
Joselyn Silva recorded two assists, while
Stella Regan and Kapalka each added two goals. Despite strong offensive play and steady defense, the Mules ultimately fell to Williams 11-9.
The Mules will travel down to the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday for a 6:30 PM game start.
