Colby Continues Florida Stretch in Doubleheader Against Middlebury

Davenport, Fla. - The Colby College Baseball Team took the field for a doubleheader against the Panthers of Middlebury College on Friday afternoon, showcasing defensive highlights and offensive contributions across both contests during their spring trip, but ultimately falling 0-2 on the day.

Game 1: Middlebury 4, Colby 1

In the opening contest, the Mules' pitching staff kept the game within reach behind a strong relief performance. After Middlebury took an early lead, Colby responded in the third inning to pull even. Henry Silva ignited the rally with a walk, followed by a well-placed bunt single from Patrick Shrake. With the bases loaded, Myles Gythfeldt drove a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Patrick Shrake to cross the plate and tie the game at 1-1.

Myles Oo provided extra-base power for the Mules in the second inning with a double down the right-field line, while Gythfeldt finished the game with two hits. On the mound, Kyle Bourque delivered a dominant relief appearance, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings while racking up four strikeouts and allowing only one hit to keep the Middlebury bats quiet through the middle frames.

Game 2: Middlebury 12, Colby 0

The second game saw several Mules reach base as the team looked to build momentum. Shrake and Will Burns sparked the offense early with back-to-back singles in the first inning. Later in the contest, Oo added another hit to his daily total, and Ellis Lynch-Kahn contributed a pinch-hit single in the sixth.

Defensively, the Mules saw relief contributions from Aidan Murray and Ryan Heldenbergh, who combined for four strikeouts over the final two innings of play.

Colby will look to build on these performances and carry their momentum as they wrap up their spring training trip Saturday for another game against the Panthers.
