Williamstown, Mass - The Colby Women's Basketball team pushed to another close conference win against Williams College 68-62. This win advanced Colby's record to 13-8 and 3-5 in the NESCAC and Williams dropped to 10-11 and 3-4 in the conference.
The end of quarter scores were back and forth today, but to no surprise the Mules started off on top with 19 points in the first quarter alone. Regardless of the tight score, Colby was able to outscore the opponent in the third as well, working to lock in their win for the rest of the game. The Mules were big in the paint today with 32 points and made sure to stay consistent after forcing mistakes, getting 17 points off turnovers. Rebounds were strong with the team producing 29, with the high of five being contributed by Amelia Hanscom. Hanscom also dropped 17 points. Both Lydia Mordarski and Talia Thompson were not far behind getting four of their own.
The leading scorer for the night was Kate Olenik who was able to pinpoint the basket with 24 points and grabbed three rebounds while she was at it. Coming in very close was Mordarski who put up 22 points for the night which added to her two assists. Speaking of, Chelsea Ibenegbu worked to make others shine tonight with team high three assists on top of her three rebounds and a steal. More assists came from Emily Ryan and Lauren Cho who both had one in addition to their two rebounds. Ana Von Rumohr had quick hands and was our leader in steals with two on the night.
Colby will stay on the road for another NESCAC matchup against Middlebury College today at 3:00 PM.
