Colby’s Trio Powers Nail-Biter Win Over Hamilton

Clinton, N.Y. — The Colby Men's Basketball team bounced back from their one point setback yesterday at Amherst with a hard-fought one point victory of their own over the Continentals 80-79. Saturdays game produce back and forth action including 14 lead changes and nine ties with a trio of Mules leading the charge.

Colby led 45-39 at halftime then battled through multiple second-half momentum swings as both teams traded baskets. The Mules' defense held Hamilton to 41% shooting, while Colby dominated the glass with a 43-30 rebounding advantage, highlighted by 11 boards from Matthew Lamy off the bench.

Lamy, despite only having two points in the contest had the two most important. In the final moments he gave Colby the go ahead bucket with just three seconds remaining off a pass from Savion Stroud as the Mules held on for the victory.

Dan Civello powered the offense with a game-high 25 points, knocking down three threes and going a perfect 4-4 at the stripe while adding six assists. Theo Pow getting the start tonight secured 19 points and six rebounds on 8–13 shooting, and Max Poulton matched him with 19 points, including two threes and a critical 7–8 showing at the line. Overall, the team shot a stellar 18–20 from the free-throw line.

The win propels Colby to 14-6 overall and 2-4 in NESCAC play. The Mules will host Williams and Middlebury this upcoming week bringing more competitive conference action.
