Colby Falls Short Against Springfield College

Springfield, Mass. - The Colby Women's Basketball team ended the Naismith New Years Tournament playing the Springfield College Pride and falling 53-39. The Mules are now 6-4 and Springfield improves to 8-4. 

The scoring game was slow today with Colby trailing in the three quarters and both teams scoring ten points in the third. Springfield was held to under twenty points in each quarter by Colby. The Mules battled hard with the score being tied three times and the bench came in strong with 16 points. Going hard on the boards, Colby had 32 rebounds and Emily Ryan got the team's one block. The Mules had five steals and eight assists with Kate Olenik having the team high of two steals and three assists. 

Lydia Mordarski led the team with nine points and had six rebounds and an assist as well. Olenik led Colby in rebounds with 12 with eight other contributors. Shea Donnelly, Talia Thompson, and Defne Pekinbas all added a steal for the Mules. Colby hustled through four quarters of play but unfortunately fell short. 

The Mules are back on Mayflower Hill on January 5 to play Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
