Volleyball Ends Invitational with Two Straight Wins

Waterville, Maine – Following their win over the University of Wisconsin–Stout, Colby Volleyball extended its undefeated start with a doubleheader sweep of Maine Maritime Academy and Endicott College at the Margaret M. Crook Center. The two victories pushed the Mules' record to 5-0.

Colby vs. Maine Maritime Academy (25-12, 25-14, 25-12)
In the first game of the day, the Mules controlled the court from start to finish, hitting .341 as a team while holding the Mariners to a .0.043 efficiency. During this game, Colby tallied 42 kills, 12 aces, three blocks, 38 assists and 49 digs compared to Maine Maritime's 19 kills, one ace, and 31 digs. Brady Moseley paced the offense with 14 kills, while LJ Grant and Sydney Bopp each added four. From the service line, Grant and Reese Loyd each delivered three aces, with Jordan Lee adding two. At the net, Cyanne Jones stood tall with three blocks. Setter Gabby Grujic led the offense with 22 assists, while Lee contributed 11. Defensively, Grant collected 10 digs, followed by Lee and Loyd with eight each.

Later in the day, Colby faced Endicott and once again cruised cruised to a 3-0 victory to move to 5-0 on the season record. The Mules hit .280 as a team, posting 36 kills, nine aces, ten blocks, 34 assists, and 41 digs while holding Endicott to a -.021 hitting percentage with 22 kills and 32 digs. Moseley led once again with the offense with ten kills, followed by Grant and Marjorie Johnson with six each. Moseley also delivered a team-high four aces, while Grant added three and Grujic chipped in two. Defensively, Jones was dominant at the net with eight blocks, supported by Alexa Peguero (6) and Bopp (2). Grujic again directed the offense with 22 assists, while Lee and Loyd each added six. Loyd led the back row with 10 digs, with Moseley and Grujic following closely with nine each.

With their intact record, the Mules turn their attention to their second road test of the season against Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Tuesday, September 9, at 7:00 PM.
