Park City, Utah - U.S. Ski & Snowboard has announced the 49 athletes nominated to the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team for the 2025-26 season. Of the list Colby's own
Nolan Sweeney has been recognized and earns a spot on the Men's C Team.
"Joining the U.S. Ski Team has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember," said Sweeney. "From the early days at Cannon Mountain, where my grandfather first taught me to ski, through my time with the Franconia Ski Club, Burke Mountain Academy, and the Colby College Ski Team, I've been fortunate to have the unwavering support of so many people. I'm incredibly grateful and excited for this opportunity—and I hope to make everyone proud."
In the Saint Lawrence Carnival this year, Sweeney finished second in the giant slalom event. This marked the best result by a Colby Men's skier since Vincent Lebrun-Fortin placed second at the University of Vermont Carnival in 2010.
"Nolan is someone who's always possessed the talent, speed and work ethic to perform at a high level but he's battled a number of setbacks over the course of his career," stated Colby's Head Alpine Ski Coach
Eric Harlow. "The entire team was so fired up to see things come together for him the last couple of seasons - culminating in this most recent honor. We couldn't be more proud of Nolan for achieving this milestone and believe we'll be seeing a lot more from him at the next level."
Sweeney, who just wrapped up his sophomore year here at Colby, has already begun practicing and will continue to do so during these summer months.
"The spring began with a training block in Copper Mountain, Colorado. I'm now based in Park City for an extended dry land and on-snow training phase. In August, we head to South America—primarily Chile and Argentina—where the season really kicks off.
"I will primarily be training and racing across central Europe throughout the winter. My schedule this winter will be balanced between the European Cup and Nor-AM circuits. I also hope to start my first World Cup this season!"
The 2025-26 Audi FIS Alpine World Cup season is scheduled for the men and women in late October with a pair of giant slalom races in Soelden, Austria and includes a break for the Olympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina. Three stops are expected in the United States: men and women at the Stifel Copper Cup presented by United at Copper Mountain, Colorado, Nov. 27-30 and men's speed at the Stifel Birds of Prey Dec. 5-7.
The official Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team announcement will be made in the fall.
