Brunswick, Maine. - The Colby Women's Lacrosse Team faced off against the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College. The Mules secured an 8-5 win, improving their NESCAC record to 5-2 and their overall record to 9-2.
Both teams came out with defense as a priority, going a full nine minutes before the first and only goal of the quarter was scored. Bowdoin's offense hit their stride in the second quarter and gave the Mules a run for their money. The Bears scored three unanswered goals in the quarter, making the score at the half 3-1. Colby and Bowdoin traded goals in the third quarter, but Colby's offensive push was slightly stronger to tie up the game at 4-4. Once again in the fourth quarter, Colby's offensive push was stronger. The Mules repeated their three goals while holding Bowdoin to one, securing a 8-5 win.
Julia Jardina and
Gennie Littlejohn each contributed two goals. Jardina also contributed three draw controls.
Kat Munter caused four turnovers, followed by
Ainsley Dion with two. Munter also led the team in ground balls with three and draw controls with four.
Jillian Kane secured 25% more saves than Bowdoin's goalkeeper, also contributing a ground ball.
The Mules next face off against Trinity College at home at noon on Saturday, April 12.
