Middlebury, Vermont - The Mules traveled to face #14 Middlebury Panthers in a NESCAC conference matchup this weekend, facing yet another formidable conference opponent. In a challenging game, Colby fell 7-15, taking their record to 3-6 overall and 0-6 in NESCAC conference play. 

The Mules broke the deadlock first, jumping out to an early lead after Sean McGrath found Bennett Goller for the opener. Not long after, Middlebury responded with a 4-0 run to end the first quarter. The second started the same way Goller grabbed his second of the game, but yet again the Panthers shifted momentum and ended the half on a 3-0 run. Colby trailed 2-7 going into the break. 

The Mules matched Middlebury in the third as goals from Easton Bello and Thacher McCoy kept Colby in the game and brought their deficit to four. The two goals were the pairs' first of the season, followed by Gavin Rothenberg's 23rd goal five minutes later to make the score 5-10. In the fourth quarter, Justin Turley and Rothenberg added two more before a late run from Middlebury sealed the game. In goal, Will Heisler had 14 saves on a busy defensive afternoon.

The Mules are back in action Wednesday, April 9th, as they host in-state rivals Bowdoin in another NESCAC conference matchup.
