Bates responded with a goal, but the Mules pushed ahead with an additional three goals in less than three minutes for a score of 6-1 in that first quarter. The second quarter saw a greater defensive push by the Mules while holding their offense steady, scoring six goals and shutting out the Bobcats. This resulted in a 12-1 lead for the Mules heading into the second half. In the third quarter, both teams' defense was on point. Colby was unable to score until over 9 minutes into the quarter, at which point the Mules were able to rattle off three unanswered goals in four minutes. The score was 15-1 heading into the final quarter of the game. Bates came out swinging, scoring the first goal of the quarter, but Colby was quick to respond with three goals of their own before a Bobcat buzzer beater ever so slightly narrowed the Mules' lead. Despite a great last effort by Bates, Colby secured a comfortable 18-3 win.
