Lyme, N.H. - Carissa Cassidy became the first Mule to win a Slalom since 2015 on Friday at the Dartmouth Carnival. Cassidy bested a competitive field to earn her first collegiate win and grab her second podium of the season.

Not since Mardi Haskell won the 2015 Dartmouth Carnival has a Mule won a Slalom race. Cassidy joins Hannah Soria, who won the Harvard Carnival GS last season as the second Mule in two years to win a Carnival race.

On run one, soft snow challenged the field. Harrison Digangi skied the snow and course set to near perfection, landing himself in eighth place at the halfway mark. Topher Davenport made a solid move up to ski into 19th. 

For the women, Cassidy led the squad in third a mere 0.23 off the leader. Charlotte Maurer, Soria, and Althea Noyes all sat in the top 30 and would get a clean course on the second run.

Digangi and Davenport moved back slightly on the second run to end the day in 26th and 11th place. The result marks Digangi's best finish in Slalom this season after finishing in 13th place twice to start the season. For Davenport, it was his third finish in the top 30 this year.

On the women's second run, Noyes and Maurer did not finish, but Soria moved up slightly to end the day in 22nd. All eyes then turned to Cassidy. A tremendous second run of full-attack skiing meant she would come down in the lead. She saw off challenges from the top two skiers on run one, and the top step of the podium was hers.

The squad will look to keep the momentum going on Saturday when they compete in the Giant Slalom portion of the Dartmouth Carnival.
