Waterville, Maine - After an electric win on Friday night, Colby fell to a strong Hamilton side that led the majority of the matchup. The 75-83 loss drops the Mules to 13-7 overall and 4-2 in NESCAC conference play.
Although the result wasn't the same as the last game, Colby's bench players shone and provided an extra push like they did against Amherst. The well-rounded display highlights the Mules' depth in all areas of the court. Sam Hinman, a sophomore guard, continues proving a problem from beyond the arc for Colby's opponents, testing each of their three-point defense. Today he shot 4 for 7, while also tallying three steals and four rebounds en route to a 20-point display.Â
Dan Civello also had a dominant showing from the bench, using his height and athleticism to score effectively in the paint. However, Civello's three-point shooting is what separates him from many centers, today coming off a high screen and burying two triples. The freshman grabbed seven rebounds and had two blocks and assists in the process. Jack Lawson, Civello's counterpart down low, also had a strong night on both ends, putting up 16 points and eight rebounds. Lawson's experience and physicality make him a reliable scorer in the paint, something to watch out for as he chases the coveted 1,000 career points.
The Mules are back in action on Friday, February 7th, at 6 pm as they head down to Williamstown, Massachusetts to take on Williams.Â
