Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Takes Care of MMA on the Road

Castine, Maine - The Colby Men's Basketball team traveled to the Maine coastline this afternoon to face Maine Maritime Academy. Despite a slow start in the first five minutes of play, the Mules came out on top with a 26 point victory. The win takes Colby to 7-1 on the season while the Mariners drop to 4-6.

MMA took their biggest lead of the game earlier on with a 17-9 advantage at the 14:22 mark of the first half. Sam Hinman gave the Mules momentum with a triple to cut the lead to five on top of hitting another three just under three minutes later to tie the game at 21. For the second half of the opening frame Colby held the Mariners to just five points while exploding for 18 points of their own for a sizable 39-26 lead at the break. From that point on, the Mules led the rest of the way maintaining a 20-point lead for a majority of the second half and concluding with a 84-58 final score.

Hinman was hot from beyond the arc scoring his team leading 18 points off of six three pointers. He also contributed six rebounds and three steals in the contest. Dan Civello was right behind Hinman scoring 17 points of his own alongside 10 rebounds for a double double. Nate Kwiecinski also scored in the double digits notching 14 with five rebounds. Colby's 50 bench points compared to MMA's nine was a huge factor in the outcome as well as the Mules 21 points off turnovers.

Colby Men's Basketball will head into the third game of their five game road stretch on December 31st to closeout the 2025 year. They will matchup with Springfield at 1:00pm followed by a New Years Day matchup with Oneonta at noon.
