Boston, Mass. - The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team faced the Rams of Suffolk University away on Tuesday evening for their first non-conference match-up of the season. Despite trailing the game early in the first period, Colby pushed ahead and took a 4-3 win over Suffolk. The Mules now stand 3-1-0 overall.
In a very high-scoring first period, Suffolk took the lead first, finding the back of the net just 14 seconds into the game. Colby fought back and tied the game at 8:45 as sophomore
Colby Browne scored off a rebound from
Will Soloway. A few minutes later the Mules capitalized off their first power-play opportunity, as sophomore
Massimo Gentile found his first goal of the season, assisted by Soloway and senior captain
Tyler Crist. Colby didn't let up, and Crist scored his second of the season, assisted by junior
Dhillon Wilde, giving the Mules a 3-1 lead with just over five minutes to play in the first. Colby's lead didn't last very long, as the Rams scored two more goals to tie the game before the end of the period.Â
Despite being out shot eight to four in the second, Browne scored his second of the game assisted by Gentile, pushing the Mules ahead 4-3 with just about five minutes to play in the period. With a scoreless third period, Colby finished on top with a win. Senior goaltender Adam Costly played his first game of the season for the Mules, recording 17 saves on the night.
