MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Colby opened the NCAA Division III Tournament with a commanding first-round sweep of Marymount (VA), 25–14, 25–12, 25–21, on November 20 at Silloway Gymnasium in Middletown, Connecticut, improving to 24–3 and advancing to the second round. Gabby Grujic's opening ace and
Cyanne Jones's early jump serve pressure sparked a 9–2 burst—and never let the Saints settle. Colby's serve-and-block combo suffocated Marymount to -.147 hitting in the opener, then the offense hit full stride in set two at .333 with 16 kills and only three errors, before closing out a late push from the Saints in the third.
Balance carried the night.
Hayley Beigh led with 11 kills,
Brady Moseley added seven kills, three aces, and a team-high 10 digs, and
Sydney Bopp chipped four more off the bench. At the net, Jones totaled four blocks while
Ingrid Zahn and
Kendall Glover added three apiece as Colby owned a 10–3 edge in stuffs. Grujic steered the attack with 16 assists and two aces,
Sydney DeProfio supplied 13 assists, and libero
Alli McKenney steadied first contact with seven digs.
Overall, Colby out-killed Marymount 39–26, hit .239 to .010, held a 7–3 advantage in aces, and controlled total points 56–32. Colby will now face No. 24 Babson College in the NCAA Second Round on Friday, November 21 at 4:30 p.m. in Middletown, Connecticut.
