Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Basketball team continues their dominant season pushing past the Raiders of Rivier University 86-43. The Mules are now 3-0 on the season as Rivier fall to 0-5.
Scoring was opened up early by
Kate Olenik which sparked a 21-2 point run by Colby in the initial five minutes of the first quarter. Colby was able to maintain the lead reaching a 30 point differential at the half. The Mules capitalized on their defensive sets, obtaining an overwhelming 37 to eight points off turnovers. Leading in all other offensive categories, Colby outscored the Raiders 20 to zero on fast break points, 50 to 20 on points in the paint, and the bench having another great day reached 42 points. While Rivier was able to put up some more points in the second half, the Mules stayed strong reaching their highest lead of 43 points in the fourth quarter.
Olenik led Colby in points with 22 of the 86 along with tallying five rebounds. Closely following this was
Caroline Hartley with 12 points added to her two rebounds and assists.
Lauren Cho had a strong defensive outing leading the team with four steals and contributing on the other side of the ball with two assists, and
Emily Ryan once again racked up multiple assists leading the team with four.
The Mules will continue their season this Saturday November 22nd at Rutgers-Camden.
