Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Basketball team opened up the 2025-26 campaign and the Gene DeLorenzo Tip Off Tournament dominating the Bulldogs of Dean College 103-47 Saturday afternoon. The Mules are now 1-0 to being the season while Dean drops to 1-3.
Colby led from the jump coming out with a 18-2 run five minutes into the opening quarter. From that point on the lead continued to grow not letting the Bulldogs have any chance of making the game close. This resulted in the Mules ending the game in the triple digits while holding Dean below 50. Colby took advantage in all statistical categories including 22 to zero fast break points, and 20 to six second chance points. The Mules bench was lights out collecting 66 points in the contest.
Kate Olenik led the way for Colby finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds. Four other Mules scored in the double digits consisting of
Amelia Hanscom (13),
Defne Pekinbas (12),
Lauren Cho (10), and
Caroline Hartley (10). Despite only three points,
Lili Nagy led the team in assists with five and rebounds grabbing nine.
Ava Bryan had a strong debut for the Mules collecting nine points in just nine minutes of play.
Colby Women's Basketball will be right back at it tomorrow at noon for day two of their tip off tournament against Wellesley.
