Colby Scores Four Goals in 11 Minutes in Final Regular Season Game

Lewiston, Maine - The Colby College Women's Soccer team faced the Bobcats of Bates College in their final regular season game. The Mules came back from an early deficit to win 4-2, finishing the season with a 9-3-3 overall record and a 5-3-2 record in the NESCAC.

Colby came out with high energy, dominating the first half with 12 shots compared to Bates' one. Twenty minutes in, Bates opened the scoring, but goalkeeper MK Marshall held strong to keep the Mules within reach. Entering the second half, Colby turned up the intensity. At 56:16, Ella Caraluzzi scored the equalizer off a pass from Avery Barton. Just over three minutes later, at 59:27, defender Samantha DeWitt put the Mules ahead with an assist from Claire Walsh. Walsh herself added another goal at 64:27, giving Colby a 3-1 lead. Keeping up the offensive energy, Amanda Schneider scored at 67:06, assisted by Abigail Jarvi. In just 11 minutes, Colby scored four goals to overcome the 0-1 deficit. Colby totaled eight shots in the second half, with seven on goal, and four being goals. Goalkeeper Sadie Gardner made three key saves in the half to help secure the win. Bates scored a late goal with 15 minutes remaining, but Colby's offense and defense held strong to finish the game 4-2.

The Mules will play in the NESCAC quarterfinals next Saturday, with the game schedule and opponent to be announced soon.
