Colby Comes Out on Top Against Wellesley

Wellesley, Mass. - Colby came out on top in a tight match Sunday afternoon against Wellesley College, defeating Wellsley 62-59. The Mules improve to a record of 4-7.

Wellesley's defense was on point in the first quarter, keeping the Mules at 13 points while scoring 21 of their own. Colby woke up in the second quarter, though, and pushed back and evened things out slightly with a score of 37-31 heading into the second half. The Mules kept pushing in the third quarter, scoring an additional 15 points and holding Wellsley to 12. The score heading into the final quarter was a brutally close 49-46. Colby's defense dominated in the fourth while their offense kept up the good work, holding Wellsley to 10 and pushing ahead with 16 additional points. The Mules successfully ate away at Wellesley's lead, and managed to beat them with a final score of 62-59.

Colby's top performance came from Kate Olenik, whose four rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a whopping 28 points made the Mules' victory possible. Of course, this tight win also wouldn't have been possible without Amelia Hanscom's 13 points, four assists, and a block. Lydia Mordarski and Ana Von Rumohr also had great showings with eight and six points respectively. Von Rumohr also excelled with five rebounds.

Colby's next game is at home against Connecticut College this Friday, January 10, at 7 pm.
