Mules Trump Tufts Continuing Conference Streak

Waterville, Maine. - The Colby Mules were back at it again today, facing off against the Jumbos of Tufts University. Colby beat the Jumbos 83-59, improving to an overall record of 6-7 and a conference record of 2-0. 

The Mules started strong and stayed strong throughout the first half, with a 22-13 lead in the first and second quarters for a score of 44-26 heading into the second half. Tufts refused to yield, though, pushing against the Mules harder in the third quarter and racking up 19 points to Colby's consist 22 for a score of 66-45. The fourth quarter was a defensive masterpiece by both teams, with Colby only able to score 19 and Tufts only scoring 14. Still, though, after four consistent quarters with sizable leads, the Mules were able to secure a comfortable 83-59 victory.

Colby saw a number of incredible performances across the board. Chelsea Ibenegbu racked up 11 points, three assists, two rebounds, and two steals. Kate Olenik boasted a whopping 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Amelia Hanscom showed out with 16 points, eight rebounds, eight rebounds, and three assists, with Lydia Mordarski also contributing 16 points, two rebounds, and an assist. 

The Mules next face off against Husson University at 7 pm on Tuesday, January 14, at home.
