Civello Double-Double Sees Colby Past Conn

New London, Connecticut - The Mules kicked off their NESCAC conference campaign and second big away stretch of the season against Connecticut College this weekend. Colby handled business easily, improving to 9-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play after a 69-56 win. Dan Civello came off the bench for 21 points and 13 rebounds, giving the freshman the first double-double of his career.

The game started slow as both teams settled into the game. Down five, Civello scored ten points in less than four minutes to propel Colby into a six-point lead. Max Poulton took over later in the half, making his last three shots to tally seven points. The Mules eventually pulled away even more and headed into half up 12, 34-22.

Coming out of the break, Colby continued to dominate in the paint, but this time through Jack Lawson. He got to the rim three times to start the half, and after Civello knocked down a three, the two combined for another layup from Lawson to increase the Mules' lead to 17. Responding quickly, the Camels went on a huge scoring run, cutting Colby's lead to 2 with eight minutes to go. Ben Kaczmarek buried a three to get the Mules out of trouble and Civello followed him up with four points of his own to secure the win.

Colby is back in action tomorrow in their second doubleheader conference matchup, traveling to Medford, Massachusetts to play #13 Tufts.
