Waterville, MAINE - The Colby Volleyball team returned to the Margaret M. Crook Center this Tuesday for their season opener game against Saint Joseph's College of Maine.The Mules swept the match with a decisive 3-0 victory (25-10, 25-14, 25-13), starting the 2024 season on a high note with a 1-0 record, a solid .347 hitting percentage, and a total of 44 kills.

Sophomore Marjorie Johnson led the offensive charge with 8 kills, followed by LJ Grant with 7 and Brady Moseley with 5. The team also excelled in serving, with Emma Davis and Allison Rodriguez each delivering 2 aces. On the defensive side, Brady Moseley was a standout at the net with 3.0 blocks, supported by Sydney Bopp and Olivia Drayden, who each contributed 2.0 blocks. Gabby Grujic accumulated 20 assists, while Reanna Yadao anchored the defense with 18 digs.

Colby's well-rounded performance set the tone for the season, demonstrating their potential to be a formidable force in the matches to come. The Mules will look to build on this momentum as they head to MIT for their second game of the season on Friday, aiming to continue their winning streak.
