New York City, N.Y. - The Colby Volleyball team traveled to New York City this weekend for the NYU tournament. In Saturday day one action, the Mules took on William Paterson and Scranton where both matches were concluded in a final fifth set.
In game one against the Pioneers, Colby dropped the first two sets but answered with a dominate third set taking it 25-8. This allowed the momentum to swing into the Mules favor as they then completed a 2-0 comeback for a 3-2 final score victory.
Brady Moseley finished with 14 kills as
LJ Grant totaled a whopping 10 aces.
Gabby Grujic tallied 22 assists while
Reese Loyd had 19 digs defensively.
In Saturday's second game, Colby and Scranton traded sets with the Mules taking the first and third and th Royals taking the second and fourth leading to a final fifth set. With Colby leading by a small margin of 8-6 the team went on a five point run ultimately leading to a 15-7 set win and match victory. Grant and Moseley combined for 25 kills as Loyd gathered 28 more digs to finish the day with 47.
The Mules are back in action tomorrow for day two of the tournament taking on the hosting and #7 ranked Violets at 12:30pm.
