Ewing, N.J. - The Colby College Women's Lacrosse Team came out on top today against the 10th-seeded College of New Jersey to advanced to the third round.
Colby absolutely dominated in the first quarter, scoring in the first minute and another four times before the Lions snuck in a goal at the end of the quarter. The score at the end of the first quarter was 4-1. The Mules and Lions alternated goals in the second half, scoring in equal parts to wrap up the half at 7-4. Both teams entered the second half with offensive power, New Jersey working hard to close the gap but falling just short. The score at the end of the third quarter was 11-9. Colby once again pulled ahead, scoring three unanswered goals in the first five minutes. The Lions pushed back again, but the Mules' had too great a lead. The score at the end of the game was 15-11.Â
Julia Jardina's four goals and three assists played a huge part in making this win possible, as did her five draw controls, two caused turnovers, and ground ball.
Cami McDonald dominated offensively, scoring a third of Colby's total points.
Ally Franz's two goals and three assists were something to see and
Tate Ban contributed an impressive four assists, a caused turnover, and a ground ball.Â
The Mules take on Wesleyan on the road in Middletown, Conn. at noon on Saturday in the third round of NCAAs.Â
