Softball Bounces Back During Double-Header Against Hamilton

Clinton, N.Y. - The Colby College Softball team headed to New York today to play their first NESCAC game of the season. In game 1, the Mules fell short to Hamilton College, with a final score of 2-5. In game 2, the Mules came back strong and took the win with a final score of 8-4. These games bring Colby to a record of 9-7 for the season so far and Hamilton to 12-10.


Game 1:
  • The first three innings all ended with a score of 0-0
  • Colby had an incredible fourth inning with Emma Burnham hitting a home run to right field, which also allowed Caroline DeSimone to advance from third 
  • Hamilton also scored their first two runs in the fourth inning, leading the teams to tie and enter the fifth with a score of 2-2
  • Carissa Cassidy stole second base in the fifth inning
  • Abby Orso had a total of 113 pitches with an impressive five strikeouts

Game 2:
  • Colby took a strong lead in the third inning with Victoria Ramirez reaching on a fielder's choice to third base, scoring Ayston Asadoorian. Juliana Kiley singled to right center, plating Cassidy. The Mules ended this inning with a total of two runs and four hits.
  • In the fourth inning, Asadoorian reached first on a fielding error.  Two runs were scored by MacLeod and Asadoorian after Ramirez was hit by a pitch and Kiley singled to right field.
  • In the fifth, Asadoorian reached first on a fielding error and then proceeded to steal second. Three unearned runs were scored by Asadoorian, Cassidy, and Grace Gouin.
  • Ashley Correll pitched all seven innings and had a total of 115 pitches, allowing five hits. She also had three strikeouts.

Next, the Mules will stay in Waterville to play another double-header against Husson University on Tuesday, April 9th at 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
