Amherst, Mass - Colby Women's Tennis lost 3-6 to Amherst in a tough battle Saturday morning.
After doubles play, the Mules were down 1-2 to the Mammoths, with
Ellie Gershaw and
Amelie Gal securing the lone point for the Mules. Gal and Gershaw won 8-4, advancing them to three straight wins at the third doubles position. The one doubles pairing of
Sam Riordan and
Sydney Landau and the two paring of
Isabella Suk and
Michaela Landry fell to Amherst 3-8 and 1-8, respectively.
Singles was a battle for the Mules, with freshmen
Jade Finestone and
Michaela Landry coming up big for the team again. Finestone remains undefeated this season, beating her opponent 6-1, 6-3. Landry had a close first set, 7-5, but dominated the second set with a final score of 7-5, 6-1. Riordan fell in a tough three set match, 6-1, 3-6, 2-6, and Gershaw battled for a close match of 1-6, 5-7.
The Mules are back in action tomorrow at 10 am at Hamilton and are searching for their 2nd conference win.
