Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Colby Women's Tennis Loses 1-8 to Williams

Waterville, Maine- Colby Women's Tennis falls in a sunny match-up 1-8 to the Williams Ephs.

Play began at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 27th, with Sydney Landau and Bella Suk grabbing the lone doubles point. In an incredibly close match, Landau and Suk were able to win 7-4 in a tiebreaker, giving them the 8-7 victory at second doubles. The Mules mixed up their pairings this weekend, with Sam Riordan and Micheala Landry reuniting in the top slot. The pair played hard, losing 3-8 to highly ranked opponents. Ellie Gershaw and Amelie Gal competed at third doubles, battling their way back from a 3-6 deficit to bring the match to 6-6, ultimately falling 6-8 to the Williams duo.

Singles play was intense, however the Mules were unable to snatch a victory. Gershaw had the most notable match of the day, after splitting sets with her opponent. Gershaw lost the first set, stole back the second set, then fell in a third set- her final score was 2-6, 6-3, 4-6. Finestone also competed at the four singles position, winning her first set 6-2, dropping the second set 4-6, and then losing 6-10 in a third set tiebreaker. Riordan, Landau, Landry, and Suk competed at an extremely high level, but were unable to comeback from early deficits.

The Mules are back in action tomorrow at 10:30 am as they take on the Middlebury Panthers in their final match-up of the regular season.
