Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Mules Fall to Bates in Tight NESCAC Match

Lewiston, Maine - The Colby Women's Lacrosse Team came up short tonight, falling to the Bates Bobcats 9-8. The Mules' record is now 5-5 in NESCAC and 10-5 overall.

The first quarter was high-scoring for both teams, with Colby taking a 2-1 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Bates came back with a vengeance, though, pulling ahead and leading the first quarter with a score of 5-3. Defense was the name of the game in the second quarter, Colby holding the Bobcats down to two goals and scoring one for themselves. The score at the end of the first half was 7-4. The Mules were down but definitely not out, holding Bates down to a singular goal in the third quarter despite not being able to score one for themselves. The score was 8-4 heading into the fourth and final quarter. With a four-point deficit, it was Colby's turn to come back with a vengeance. They outscored the Bobcats a whopping four goals to one, but it wasn't quite enough to dethrone Bates. The score at the end of the game was a tight 9-8 loss for the Mules.

Ally Franz brought the heat on offense, scoring a hat trick. Colby's other six goals were all scored by different players, again speaking to the strength and diversity of Colby's offensive squad. Tate Ban, in addition to her goal, also boasted two assists, a ground ball, and a caused turnover. Julia Jardina boasted six draw controls and a ground ball. Sarah Hearns, the Mules powerhouse goalkeeper, outsaved Bates' goalkeeper 11 saves to eight.

This was the conclusion of the regular season for the Mules, stay tuned for more information on playoffs.
