Box Score New London, Conn. - The Colby Women's Lacrosse team fell to Trinity College today in a tight 7-6 NESCAC match. The Mules' record stands at 4-4 in NESCAC, 8-4 overall.
Defense was the name of the game this afternoon, and both teams put up an epic fight. The first quarter was Trinity's time to shine, scoring twice while holding the Mules down to zero. The score at the end of the first quarter was 2-0. The second quarter saw slightly more movement by the Mules, scoring once and keeping the Bantams at two more goals. The score for the first half was 4-1. The tight battle continued in the third quarter, each team only scoring once. The score heading into the final quarter of the game was 5-2. In the fourth quarter, the Mules put up an incredible fight. They managed to score four goals to the Bantam's two, but it was not quite enough for the Mules to pull ahead. The final score of the game was 7-6.
Ally Franz had an impressive game, scoring four goals.
Julia Jardina also performed well with one goal and one assist.
Sarah Hearns performed well, out-saving the Bantams' Ali Macdougall by over twice her saves.
Kat Munter had six ground balls and caused five turnovers, leading an impressive defensive front.
The Mules next face off against Westfield State University on the road in Westfield, Mass. tomorrow at 11 am.
